Job Description

The Chesapeake Gallery Coordinator is responsible for all areas of operation related to the Chesapeake Gallery.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Planning Chesapeake Gallery exhibitions and related events in conjunction with the Gallery and Arts on Campus Committee (GACC)

Attending monthly GACC meetings and providing updates to the committee on exhibitions, events, and activities in the gallery

Overseeing all aspects of communication with artists, the scheduling installation, maintenance and de-installation of exhibitions, and managing the shipping and receiving of art when necessary

Handling promotion and publication of the gallery and exhibitions, including the maintenance of the gallery website and social media presence

Generating documentation of all exhibition artwork and operating and maintaining the gallery space

Ordering and maintaining gallery supplies and equipment

Overseeing the organizational budget

Working with the Grants Director to identify and apply for grant opportunities

Growing and improving the gallery’s impact on the College and the local and wider region

Performing specific job tasks/functions unique to position as assigned by supervisor.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position

Required Education     

Bachelor of Fine Arts or a bachelor’s degree in a related field; Or an associate’s degree with at least 5 total years of relevant experience

Required Experience    

One year of related experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

A knowledge of art gallery processes and procedures and how to market exhibitions

Ability to effectively use web-based tools and social media platforms to promote the gallery and events

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with those employed by the College, students, volunteers, artists, community members and organizations

Ability to install and de-install exhibition materials, including two- and three-dimensional works, multimedia works, and installation pieces

Ability to work with lighting systems for optimal display of works

Proficiency using Microsoft Office 365

Preferred Qualifications           

Curatorial experience

Masters of Fine Arts or other related field

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or other design programs (Canva, etc.)

Knowledge of web design

Hours per Week: 20

General Weekly Work Schedule: Varies, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
