DEPARTMENT: MANDEVILLE GALLERY/PERMANENT COLLECTIONS SUMMARY/QUALIFICATIONS:
The Curatorial Administrative Assistant will assist the Curator of Art Collections and Exhibitions in all aspects of exhibition and permanent collections programming. Exhibition responsibilities include: promotion of events (press calendar listings (30+), email blasts, 25live, mailing house); event scheduling and catering; art work shipping and loan forms; gallery billing; mailing list updates and maintenance; receptions and special events candid photography, editing and social media posts. Permanent Collection responsibilities include: wrapping and transporting artwork on campus and to off site storage; conservation arrangements and scheduling; billing and invoicing; community, staff, and faculty inquiries and assistance. The position is 2 days per week for 4 months (July 1 to November 1, 2016).
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree and previous art gallery or art collection experience is required. Candidates must have an understanding of industry standards, exhibition production, an interest in the visual arts, and awareness of a liberal arts college community and nuances. Candidates should also have experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Mac platforms, Photoshop, an ability to multitask in a fast paced office, and strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills. Must be safety conscious, able to work with a diverse group of individuals, and available to work evenings 2-3 times during employment period.
