Museum Registrar
JOB SUMMARY
Under direction of the Director of Strategic Initiatives within the Office of the Provost, the museum registrar will create and maintain a permanent archive of accurate and complete records documenting the collection of all art at UC Irvine with an immediate focus on the University’s newly acquired art collections. The incumbent is responsible for implementing policies and procedures that relate to caring for archives and museum artifacts. Individual will oversee collections inventory for asset accountability and control; loan and exhibition agreements; and shipping logistics. Registrar will collaborate with multimedia partners to expand access to collections online.
Salary: Annual (Minimum) $56,820.00 – $88,752.00
Work Schedule: 8-5, M-F

REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in art history, fine arts, or a field related to museum interests or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Minimum of 3 years of Museum Registration.
Working knowledge of American Association of Museum’s Code of Ethics as well as the Collecting Guidelines for Museums.
Ability to become proficient with the EmbARK software program.
Familiar with the American Association of Museum’s Guide to Provenance Research, as well as the Nazi-Era Provenance Internet Portal.
Familiar with Digital Fair Use and the US Indemnity Program.
Knowledge of best practices in museum registration and collections management.
Knowledge of repatriation processes, both nationally and internationally.
Knowledge of proper art handling procedures.
Experience working with staff and volunteers.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Knowledge of collections management software.
Experience using digital cameras and downloading/manipulating digital files.
