Description The development officer/FoA manager is a key member of the Resources and Davis Museum teams and is responsible for coordinating fundraising activities for the Davis Museum. This position, in conjunction with the AVP for Resources, will serve as the liaison between the Davis Museum and the Office for Resources as well as between the Friends of Art and the Wellesley College Alumnae Association.

As Friends of Art Manager:
• Responsible for day-to-day operations of the FoA program— including volunteers organized into a National Committee, and Regional Committees—to raise friends and unrestricted funds in support of current Davis needs (incl. acquisitions, exhibitions, programs, collections, internships, and unique student opportunities).
• In conjunction with the Director of Resources Marketing & Donor Relations, plans and executes the annual giving and engagement efforts, including direct mail efforts and volunteer solicitations; regional events from large to small; on-campus programs; acknowledgments.
• Tracks and reports on FoA finances, including gifts and revenues.
• Oversees planning and logistics for two FoA National Committee meetings a year.
• Collaborates on planning and logistics for annual FoA Patrons Trip.
• Cultivates, stewards, and solicits alumnae, parents, and friends of the Davis, by phone and in person, locally and nationally, collaborating with Resources colleagues as appropriate. Guides and supports FoA volunteer success in meeting friend-and fund-raising goals.

As Development Officer for the Arts:
• Staffs the Director of the Davis Museum for fundraising-related activities and engagement events, including organizing and participating (as necessary and appropriate) in on- and off-campus donor/prospect meetings and fundraising-related events.
• Actively manages a major gifts portfolio and works closely with colleagues across the Office for Resources to assist them with their work with arts prospects.
• The Development Officer/Manager will participate in key events at the Davis as well as significant College events at which alumnae and parents are present (including Commencement, Reunion, the Very Wellesley Weekend) and will perform other duties as assigned.
• In collaboration with Director of Resources Marketing & Donor Relations, supports the Davis Director in creating stewardship reports and contacts with donors as well as oversees appropriate donor recognition.

Requirements • B.A. degree required
• 5+ years of front-line fundraising or comparable experience, including conducting successful solicitations, closing gifts, preferably in an academic or visual arts environment
• Background in art history and/or an appreciation of the role of the arts at a liberal arts college is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience successfully managing internal and external constituencies through influence and responding to the needs of a wide spectrum of volunteers and donors
• Willingness to travel as necessary and appropriate to engage alumnae in conversations regarding their philanthropic support of the arts at Wellesley College
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to look at data and draw conclusions
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, working both independently and as a member of a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to work collaboratively, and an orientation toward customer service
• Absolute confidentiality, professionalism and discretion required
• Commitment to the mission and goals of Wellesley College
• Familiarity with Windows-based systems, including tracking systems and a high comfort-level using technology to communicate and share information

This is an exempt, full-time position. Some night and weekend work are required, as is occasional travel.
