We intend to hire for one position at either the Program and Outreach Coordinator (PEI2/3A) classification, requisition #21002915, or Librarian classification (PLB1/3A), requisition #21002913, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate.
The UI Libraries and the Stanley Museum of Art, which hold deep, culturally diverse, and complementary collections of art and visual materials, are seeking an engaged and intensely collaborative librarian or museum professional to serve as Academic Outreach Coordinator. Reporting to the Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives Outreach and Engagement Librarian (60%) and the Stanley Museum’s Curator of Learning & Engagement (40%), the Academic Outreach Coordinator will work toward short- and long-term goals intended to increase the visibility and usability of diverse collection materials in both units.
The Academic Outreach Coordinator will collaborate with faculty to help them align object-based learning with course objectives across the curriculum. They will draw from collections representing diverse creators, while leveraging their understanding of the experiences of historically underrepresented people in academic libraries and museums. They will also facilitate discovery and pedagogical use of collection objects in the UI Libraries and the Stanley Museum; lead object‐centered teaching and research workshops for instructors across campus; and assist faculty and graduate students as they produce original research on collection objects.
