Summary of Position | Encompassing the professional roles of museum registrar, exhibitions preparator, collections manager, and security and facilities supervisor, this position plays a key role in managing museum operations. Oversees long-range planning efforts and day-to-day activities related to the preservation and care of the permanent collection. Manages independently the safety and security of the permanent art collection and all works of art on the premises, directs and supervise exhibition installations, and manages the physical facilities to mitigate risk to art from damage, deterioration, or theft. Participates in the assessment, education, and implementation of museum standards and best practices of collections policies and procedures for Museum of Art staff and teaches students professional collections management methods. Participates in grant writing, reporting, and budgeting. |

Other minimum qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in arts-related field (i.e., art history, museum studies) and three years of related experience (preferably as museum registrar, or exhibition manager). Excellent organizational and communication skills. Strong writing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator, and experience with collection database and digital images management. Ability to manage multiple tasks. Valid driver’s license for occasional transportation of works of art in rented van/truck. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Ability to use power tools. |
Additional Preferred Qualifications | Masters degree preferred. Experience writing and producing exhibition didactic materials in print and digital formats utilizing exhibition hardware, AV equipment, and software for use in gallery and online. |
Salary Information | $50,000–$53,000: Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off. |
