SCAD seeks an assistant curator to research, collect, and organize materials for on- and off-campus exhibitions for its Savannah location.
In this position, you will coordinate M.F.A. exhibitions and educational programs in Savannah, develop proposals that feature SCAD and visiting artists, and monitor artist activity for exhibition consideration. You will also oversee the layout and installation of exhibitions alongside curatorial staff; develop proposals, copy, and other materials; and support senior curatorial staff in developing their projects, among other responsibilities that ensure the success of the exhibition department and further the mission of the university.
The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of modern or contemporary art and design as well as an interest in SCAD artists and excellent time-management skills. Exceptional communication skills are also a must as this position involves networking with community partners, the media, and potential patrons, as well as developing relationships with SCAD faculty.
Requirements:
- M.A. or M.F.A. in art history, allied art, general art, or education from an accredited institution
- Three or more years of paid curating experience in a museum or gallery setting
- Valid driver’s license
