The University of Southern California (USC) Pacific Asia Museum seeks a creative and innovative Program Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Director of the Pacific Asian Museum, the Family and Youth Programs Specialist provides vision for and implements activities, materials, and programs designed to serve family and youth audiences. The position will be pivotal in developing relationships with external constituents including K-12 school community and other community organizations serving youth and families. The position will also be a leader in creating and managing multidisciplinary family and youth education programs that nourish the community’s sense of curiosity, adventure, and imagination in Asia Art and Culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Organize and coordinate school tours and family-oriented activities
• Develop and enhance school partnerships through outreach to teachers, principals, and administrators
• Ensure school tour content and educator resources align with K-12 curricula
• Work with the Curator to develop appropriate content and teaching/learning experiences for school tours and family activities
• Develop new activities and materials appropriate for family and youth visitors
• Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations serving youth and families
• Propose and create materials and activities such as family guides, on-line materials, and other materials
• Design and conduct training programs for education staff, docents, interns, and volunteers
• Devise and implement evaluation tools to measure program effectiveness in meeting goals and audience needs
• Provide information, reports, and statistics needed for grant applications and reports
• Collaborate with marketing on producing robust marketing plan to communicate the vision of Pacific Asian Museum’s programs
• Develop departmental budget and monitor expenses
• Maintain division database
• Performs other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications: BA or BFA in education, art history, museum studies, fine arts or a related field is required. In addition, candidates must have:
• 3-4 years of experience in museum or arts education
• Effective project management, organizational, teaching, and research skills are necessary along with a sound knowledge of art history and current trends in classroom and museum teaching strategies
• Excellent, proven leadership skills along with strong writing, verbal, and public speaking skills needed for interacting with parents, educators, volunteers, museum staff and other constituents
• Ability to work productively with diverse constituencies, including schools, community agencies, institutions and the public
• Proven skill at producing large and small-scale events and projects
• Aptitude for detail and ability to work both independently as well as in a team setting to develop programs and materials
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media, and design software is required.

USC PACIFIC ASIA MUSEUM
USC Pacific Asia Museum is the only museum devoted to the arts and culture of Asia and Pacific Islands located within a major research university.
