We are especially interested in scholars committed to developing a more inclusive global history of art, moving beyond traditional, Eurocentric canons and methodologies. The fellowship is 12 months, beginning in Fall 2025, and may be renewable up to one additional year upon demonstration of academic productivity.
The Postdoctoral Fellow has the unique opportunity to receive:
Mentorship from senior faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences and from museum professionals at the Haggerty
Training and development in the areas of object-based research and pedagogy and curatorial practice
Professional development preparing the fellow for a full-time faculty position at an academic institution or within the art museum field

Duties and Responsibilities
The fellowship provides curatorial training and supports scholarly research related to the Haggerty Museum of Art collection and exhibition presentations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate scholarly excellence and promise in addition to a strong interest in a museum career.
The Postdoctoral Teaching and Curatorial Fellow is expected to teach one class per semester for each semester of the fellowship (1:1 load per year). HIST 1201 and 1202 are semester long surveys of Art History with a global focus and are part of the Marquette Core Curriculum Discovery Tier, however there may be flexibility in the teaching assignments based on the candidate’s education and experience, and in consideration with the needs of the department.
