Position Summary | The Senior Curator is a year-to-year Appointed Professional position functioning as a curatorial team leader reporting to the Director of the University of Arizona Museum of Art (UAMA). Leads the museum in creatively engaging diverse audiences, both on and off-campus with the museum’s collections and research through the development of exhibitions, programs, and materials, and in establishing and sustaining strategic partnerships. Has primary responsibility for administration and supervision of all staff and activities on the engagement team (in coordination with the Director), including planning and producing exhibits and programs, general supervision of design and development of exhibitions, and personnel management. In the context of multi-team efforts, ensures effective coordination among members of the engagement team and other UAMA teams. Pursues grants and other forms of external funding in support of the division’s work. The Senior Curator must be an innovative and enthusiastic individual, experienced in cultivating relationships leading to diverse and dynamic experiences for our visitors and the surrounding communities. Emphasis is placed on developing new approaches to programming and interpretation that engage audiences in considering major issues, ideas, and events of our time related to the University of Arizona’s research initiatives through art.
