The Specialist for University Audiences develops, implements, and evaluates dynamic initiatives that engage the UCLA community and other adult learners with the Hammer Museum’s collections, exhibitions, programs, and resources. This position serves as a liaison between the Museum and UCLA students, identifies opportunities to build and sustain university audiences in innovative and meaningful ways, and mentors future arts professionals.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Academic Programs, this position manages the Museum’s tour program with UCLA Student Educators, Hammer Student Association, the Internship Program, and other student-centered initiatives. The Specialist cultivates opportunities for both independent and social learning among UCLA students and fosters their academic and professional growth, creativity, and skills.
Will also contribute to wider Academic Programs department initiatives, including the large-scale annual Family Day program, Classroom-in-Residence at the Hammer program, and teacher professional development.
Requirements: 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience working with teen or university students in an educational setting (formal or informal learning); 4 years’ experience teaching with works of art in tours and other museum programs; Demonstrated ability in conceptualizing, planning, and implementing educational programs, including tours, workshops, and other university initiatives; Knowledge of museum tour and teaching methods and strategies.
