Penn Museum Summer Internship
Application Deadline: February 13, 2023
Applicants to Penn Museum summer internship positions should be interested in anthropology, archaeology, museum practice, cultural heritage, and related disciplines. Internships are comprised of a project-based placement in a museum department and the Museum Practice Program, which includes orientation, weekly lectures, collections tours, field trips to local museums, and final presentations. The Penn Museum strongly encourages applications from students who are members of groups historically underrepresented in careers related to museums and anthropology.
About the Program
Internship Dates: June 5 – August 4, 2023
Weekly Museum Practice Program: Wednesdays 10am- 12pm
The program includes orientation, weekly lectures, collections tours, field trips to local museums, and final presentations by interns.
We are currently planning for an in-person summer. Remote work may be possible for some projects.
Schedule
A typical internship schedule is 9:30-4:30pm 3-5 days a week; schedules vary based on supervisor availability and project structure. The Wednesday morning Museum practice program is required, and those hours count toward the completion of 300 internship hours.

Interns are offered positions based on their academic background, professional skills, interests, and career goals as they align with Museum projects which vary from year to year.
